Mission Statement

To represent Deaf Filipinos, preserve Filipino Sign Language, and promote the Deaf identity through capacity building training of Deaf and hard of hearing Filipinos to ensure their equal human, legal, linguistic, and cultural rights.

Priorities

The Philippine Federation of the Deaf aims to serve all members of the deaf community. The organization’s main priorities are the following:

      • • Ensure equal opportunities for employment, access to quality education with vocational rehabilitation services, and access to telecommunication systems and mass media from both the government and the private sectors, and access to social services and the public/mass transport system.

      • • Support research and development programs related to Filipino Sign Language (FSL). 
      •  
      • • Promote Deaf awareness events to raise public awareness in the Philippines.
      •  
      •  • Promote the training of qualified interpreters for the deaf.
      •  
      •  • Empower Deaf individuals and ensure their representation in national and international meetings, forums, and legislative bodies.
      •  
      • •  Provide Deaf member organizations with training on organizational management, community organization, advocacy techniques, leadership, values formation, and other necessary skills for their development.
      •  
      • • Monitor government and non-government agencies’ efforts to enforce basic rights and equal opportunities for the deaf, particularly in employment, to ensure fair and equitable treatment.
